may iphoneography

I have tried more than once in the past few years to do the awesome “photo-a-day” projects. I was always good for about a month or so and then I’d inevitably miss a day.
Then I’d be good again for a couple of days.
Then get busy and miss again.

And because I’m a perfectionist I would eventually give up completely.
Lame, I know.

So this year I decided that I was going to do a year long project, because I really do want to remember all the little everyday moments, but rather than use my big girl camera I decided to document them on my iphone. Much easier, since I always have it handy.
Also, I decided that it was a-ok if I missed a day or two or ten. This project is about documenting our daily life for me and therefore I decided to do a monthly collage instead of posting a daily photo. That way I can give myself the grace to use all my favorite images from the month rather than get upset because I missed a day.
In May here I ended up posting 15 photos from our 3 day camping trip. And I am ok with that. Because I am realizing it is less about being perfect and more about taking the time to document the joy that is my family 🙂

So, if you have been wanting to start a photo-a-day project (or maybe you have and then given up) take heart my friend, it doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be you!

p.s for all you awesome ones out there that have been diligently doing your photo a day projects, you are my heroes!!! 🙂
